Different Types of Visa for Australia

 What is a Visa?

Usually linked with your passport a visa is a document that allows you to travel to and stay in a country. It is a must and comes will specific guidelines and requirements. It grants an individual permission to enter a country. Don’t mistake this for a passport as they are completely different documents.

Australian Visa Conditions

As with anywhere you travel you must stick to and follow strict rules and regulations. These are normally in place for the best interest of the country. An Australian Visa has some very specific guidelines such as you must not work in Australia, you must not engage with any studies for more than three months and if you arrive with any convictions you may be refused entry.

Different Types of Visa

This part seems to confuse a lot of people who are looking to travel to Australia. There is not one visa for everything. Different types of Visa have different rules, guidelines and regulations depending on your reason for travelling weather it is tourism or deciding to move and live in the country.

There are many different types of Visa but i will talk about the 2 most common.

A Short stay Visa is for tourists. This allows people to enter the country for tourism purposes only meaning they cannot work or be paid for any services through the duration of their stay. They must also have enough money with them to support them during their stay. This visa allows you to stay up to 3 months on each arrival to the country within 12 months of the visa being granted.

The long stay is for people staying for a grater period of time in Australia or moving to live there. To gain entry with this visa you must travel with enough money to support yourself for a period of time. Something along the lines of a year, give or take of course.

Moving to Electronic

Australia has recently introduced an electronic visa system which is available to a number of eligible countries and it comes with many benefits to the traveler. This helps reduce your waiting time at customs and passport control speeding up processing time. This also provides a seamless method for gaining authority for people traveling to the country.

This has added benefits to the airlines that carry passengers to the country as it allows the airlines to integrate with new systems. For example, if you are about to board a plane without having the authority to enter Australia then the computers would alert the member of staff and stop you from boarding the plane by refusing to issue you a boarding pass.

That benefit then passes onto the country as it stops unauthorised travellers even stepping foot on the country. It also allows the Australian government to gain access to data records on all travellers to improve border security.

Now you know a little bit about an Australian Visa. If in doubt always contact the relevant visa authority and they will be able to help you further and point you in the right direction.
